The School of Medicine, as the first school of SKUMS, was established in 1986 with the admission of 110 medical students. The school currently admits medical students in two semesters.

This school includes educational deputies of basic sciences, general and clinical medicine, Deputy of Administration and Finance, and Deputy of Research. In addition to medicine, the school offers postgraduate degrees including parasitology, microbiology, human genetics, biochemistry and immunology and specialized courses in internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, surgery and anesthesia. A total of 110 full-time faculty members work in the school.

Cellular and Molecular, Medicinal Plants, and Biochemistry Research Centers, 9 laboratories and a dissection room are also affiliated to this school.

The School of Medicine of SKUMS aims to achieve a top position among medical schools across Iran by relying on committed and motivated professors to educate graduates with professional abilities who will benefit from up-to-date knowledge and enjoy an innovative spirit in research, and will be familiar with regional priorities and global health issues so that they will be able to meet the health needs of the community with a focus on equity by relying on innovation in new equipment and methods.

Training general practitioners and specialists with up-to-date knowledge and high skills in order to meet the needs of the community and the national health system based on the higher-order values and documents;

Maintaining knowledge up-to-date and improving learners' professional abilities and skills through lifelong learning;

Laying the groundwork for and conducting applied and demand-driven research in medical sciences using new technologies and training efficient staff;

Extensive and purposeful development of medical educational programs based on responsive education and the University of the Third Millennium model;

Empowering all learners to provide services based on human rights and dignity, professional ethics and work conscience based on the Iranian-Islamic pattern for progress, and

Enabling students to participate responsibly in post-graduate education and upgrade to higher education levels.

1- Forming different counseling teams and think tanks with the inclusion of clinical team managers and heads of hospitals in order to resolve functional problems;

2- Making all educational, research and treatment activities planning-oriented by providing appropriate feedback and eliminating shortcomings;

3- Developing as much physical space as possible to improve the quality of education;

4- Planning for use of new educational methods;

5- Using modern medical methods in providing services to service recipients;

6- Reviewing the structure of budgeting, financial and revenue affairs of the school;

7- Reforming the structure of the educational system of the school with emphasis on evidence-based education;

8- Improving services and educational and research programs according to national and international standards;

9- Optimizing human resources in accordance with the EDO activities of the school;

10- Reviewing the organizational chart of the school and attracting and training capable teaching staff in accordance with the growing trend of fields and levels of study;

11- Reviewing the educational processes of the school in accordance with the growing trend of fields and levels of study, and

12- Codifying programs in order to improve the rank and base of faculty members.

1- Launching new courses and fields of study with respect to the needs of the community, and educational centers appropriate to the national development plan and available facilities, and

2. Creating the necessary infrastructure and capabilities to admit foreign students.
